Barbara Maxine Roman, 97, of Shelbyville, passed away Sept. 21, 2022.
She was born Sept. 12, 1925, in Shelbyville, to Margurite Worland and Glen Bird Worland. She was raised by her grandmother, Mary Hicks. She married Martin J. Roman on Feb. 13, 1944, at Camp Atterbury. Shortly after, Martin was transferred to the European Theater of World War II.
She is survived by one brother, Robert Bailey, of Florida, and many friends including John and Jane Huber, Rhonda Raters, Nichole Scott, Amanda and Brad Gosser and their children, John McAnany, Gloria and Allen Nash, Geraldine Turner, Scott Smith, and Kenny Pike.
Barbara retired from Western Electric in 1982. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Barbara loved all animals, especially dogs and cats. She served on the board of Home of Hope for Homeless Animals. Barbara and Martin enjoyed traveling all over the world. Barbara made friends wherever she went.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 1, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, in Shelbyville, with Pastor Bruce Banister officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
