Gary Hewitt Obituary

Gary Joseph Hewitt, 55, of Taylors, died Monday, September 16, 2019.

Born in Shelbyville, IN, July 6, 1964, he was a son of Beverly Jo Shelhorn Hewitt and the late Gary William Hewitt.

Gary served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan. Gary worked as a customer service representative for an insurance company and was previously a property manager for condominiums. He was also a certified paralegal and a volunteer divorce mediator for the courts. Gary enjoyed the simple things of life like good music, the sound of birds, and he enjoyed playing the guitar. He made the conscious decision to donate his corneas so that someone else would receive the gift of sight.

In addition to his mother, Gary is survived by five sons, Danny Joe Hewitt of Hawaii, Christopher Hewitt of Hawaii, Jordan Barr of Detroit, MI, Jesse Barr of Detroit, MI, and Ethan Hewitt of Georgia; a daughter, Cassandra Hewitt of Detroit, MI; and three brothers, Jeff Hewitt of Lewisburg, TN, Richard S. Hewitt of Virginia, and Michael D. (wife, Janie) Hewitt, of Henryville, IN. and several nieces and nephews.
