Joe Giden Obituary


Joe Louis Giden, 80, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, April 5, 2019 at MHP Medical Center.
Born August 20, 1938 in Wynnburg, Tennessee, he was the son of Buster and Julia (Thompson) Giden.  He married 
Mildred (Magerle) and she preceded him on March 11, 2014.
Survivors include son Montel Giden of Shelbyville, daughters Para Jones of Indianapolis, Rhonda 
Robinson of Shelbyville; brothers Willie Dee Giden (wife Jackie) of Indianapolis, Lathin Giden (wife Lucille) 
of Alexandria, Louisiana,  sister ChiChi  Bytheford  of Indianapolis; grandchildren Carroll Jones, Anson Giden,
 Megan Kangwa, Whitney Hammel, Donte Denton, Jessman Robinson, and a host of great grandchildren,
nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Buster and Julia Giden, and a
son Vince Giden.
Joe retired from Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis after many years of employment. He had also worked at
Cummins and part time at Thrif T Mart, and at one time he owned a small convenience store 
on the corner of Harrison and Broadway Streets in Shelbyville.  He graduated from Shelbyville High School
and was baptized at a early age at Second Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon on Friday, April 12, 2019 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos
Road.   Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in Forest Hill
Cemetery.
