Karis Applegate Obituary


Karis Ann Applegate, 70, of Shelbyville, passed away July 16, 2019 at her residence.
Born August 20, 1948 in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Rev. Francis M. Applegate, Sr.
and Martha Josephine (Sweet) Applegate.  
Survivors include: a brother Francis M. "Frank" Applegate (wife Sylvia) of Shelbyville, and sister Sharon 
Kay Hauk (husband Larry) of Spring Branch, Texas. She is also survived by nephews Don Hauk of Texas,
Michael Rose of Tennessee, Travis Rose of Tennessee, Todd W. Wright of Shelbyville, Matt D. Wright of
 Bunker Hill, Illinois; nieces Elizabeth Conkright of Crawfordsvile, Jennifer L. Cupp of Osseo, Michigan, 
Michelle Skaggs of Franklin; and several great nieces and great nephews.  She was preceded in death by her
parents, and a niece Christel Erica Rose.
Ms. Applegate had lived in this area for 67 years, and San Antonio, Texas for 3 1/2 years.  She was an
executive secretary with the State of Indiana  for 25 years and also an executive secretary for Indiana Women's
Prison in Indianapolis for 10 years.  After retirement, she worked part time at Walmart for a few years.
She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1966 and was a member of Evangelical Methodist Church.
A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Evangelical Methodist Church, 267 E.
Washington Street, with Pastor Tony Meads officiating.  Visiting hours will be observed from 12:00 noon until 
the time of the service. After the service, friends may gather in the Fellowship Hall for refreshments.  
Memorial contributions can be made to Shelby County  Cancer Association, or Heartland Hospice,in care of the funeral home.
