Maevern L. Fallis, 84, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Ashford Place Health Campus.
Born July 23, 1934 in Johnson County on a farm that became part of Camp Atterbury, she was the oldest daughter
of the late Carl and Lelan (Milnes) Fallis. She never found Mr. Right. She is survived by a niece, Angela Clevenger (husband
Brian) of Winchester, her children, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Marlene
Smith, and a foster sister Letha Hall.
Ms. Fallis was a 1952 graduate of Morristown High School. She was her father's "farmhand" until graduating from
Approved Beauty School in 1961, after which time she owned and operated the Farmerette Beauty Shop. In 1969,
after the family sold the farm and moved to Waldron, Ms. Fallis became the office manager for Compton Dairy, Inc, a
position she held until her retirement in July 1999.
On October 1999, she became a volunteer at Major Hospital, working 3 or 4 days a week. She enjoyed her time there
very much and used her knitting skills to provide over 1500 baby hats for the newborns at the hospital.
Ms. Fallis was a member of Hope's Point Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She enjoyed traveling
and dining out with friends and family. In May 2014, after several critical health issues, Ms. Fallis became a resident of
Ashford Place Health Campus in Shelbyvile. They became her support and her family.
