Mary Jo Parsons, 80, of Waldron, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019 at her residence.
Born January 30, 1939 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Brainerd F. "Bud" Cooper
and Chestine P. (Potter) Cooper. She married John Parsons on January 30, 1987 and
he survives.
Other survivors include 4 children- Terry Austin of Waldron, David F. Thompson (wife Pam)
of Linton, James F. Allman III (wife Linden) of Indianapolis, Katherine E. "Beth" Overholser
of Waldron; sister Kathy Tenney (husband Ron) of Haywood, Wisconsin; 34 grandchildren,
21 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
parents, 2 sons- Mark Edwards, & Michael Overholser, brother Steve Cooper, and sister Jane
Sutherland.
Mrs. Parsons had lived in this area for 51 years, after moving from Indianapolis. She had been
employed as a shipping clerk with Overhead Door Corp. for 15 years, and after that had been
a self employed truck driver for 15 years, during which time she appeared in the National Who's
Who of Business Women for owner operator truck drivers. She graduated from Arsenal Tech High
School in Indianapolis.
Mary Jo enjoyed swimming, camping, and traveling. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending
time with her family. She raised monkeys for Helping Hands, and later acquired her own monkey
Dougie, which became a part of her family.
Funeral services will be 7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral
Home. 437 Amos Road, with Rev. David Humphrey officiating. Visitation will be observed from
3:00 pm until the time of the service.
