Maurice W. Leap, 89, of Flat Rock, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at his residence.
Born June 5, 1930 in Shelby County, he was the son of William Leap and Thelma (Kuhn) Leap. He married
Laura Inez (Harker) Leap on February 18, 1950 and she survives.
Other survivors include 3 children- Angela Carmony Simpson (husband Ronald) of Batesville; Anthony Leap (wife Paula) of
Shelby County; Alan Leap (wife Sara) of Shelby County; sister Marilyn Goodwin (husband Gene) of Waldron;
8 grandchildren-Addam Carmony (wife Jill), Ashley Carmony (wife Jody), Alicia Carmony Wolford (husband
Josh), Kelly Leap Lee (husband Clint), Ryan Leap (wife Melissa), Josh Scott (wife Ashley), Rachel Leap,
Hannah Leap and 19 great grand children. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Leap had lived in this area his entire lifetime and was a lifelong self employed farmer. He had been a school
bus driver for Noble Township & Waldron Schools for 17 years. He graduated from Waldron High School in 1948
and was a member of Geneva United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Shelby County Plan Commission,
Shelby County Council Board, Shelby County Commissioner, Shelby County Farm Bureau CO-OP Board, Farm
Bureau Insurance Board, Soil & Water Conservation Board, Shelby County Beef Association and a member of
Indiana Shorthorn Association.
Maurice dearly loved his family, grandchildren, and family get togethers. He enjoyed farming, his cattle,
and attending grandchildren's sporting events.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral
Home, 437 Amos Rd, with Pastor Mark Dodd officiating. Burial will be in Lewis Creek Cemetery. Friends
may call on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 2:00 pm until the time of the service.
