Mildred N. Stevens, 86, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at
Heritage House.
Born June 20, 1933 in Meade County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Stewart Yates
and Ilah D. (Frans) Yates. She married Thomas I. Stevens on September 21, 1956 and
he preceded her on March 28, 1997.
Survivors include a daughter Diana Boles-Jones (husband Norman) of Fairland, sons-
Russell E. Stevens of Salem, Arkansas, John S. Stevens (wife Desiree) of Latham, Illinois;
2 brothers- Russell K. Yates of Syracuse, Indiana, Darrell R. Yates of Seymour, 2 sisters-
Phyllis Jean Motz of Shelbyville, Janice K. Mabry of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; 4 grandchildren
Katharine Jones, Jonathan Jones, Jared Stevens, Jordan Stevens; and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse Thomas, and previous spouse, Perry
Boles.
Mrs. Stevens had lived in this area for 3 years, moving from Illinois. She graduated
from Leavenworth High School in Leavenworth, Indiana, and was a member of American Legion
Auxiliary, Post #70. She had been employed for several years with Gail/Cil Developmental Services,
and also had been a self employed medical courier for 20 years.
Mildred enjoyed dancing and music, watching and buying from QVC.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon on Monday, October 7, 2019 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral
Home, 437 Amos Road, with Rev. David Humphrey officiating. Burial will be in Paul Hill Cemetery
in St. Paul. Friends may call on Monday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service, at the
funeral home.
