Alfred Duncan Obituary


Alfred W. Duncan, 91, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021
at his residence.
Born April 8, 1930 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Jesse Duncan and Opal 
(Tull) Duncan. He married Alice (Petty) Duncan in 1955 and she preceded him
in January of 2000. He then married Marjorie (Paris) Duncan on September 19, 2006
and she survives.
Other survivors include children- Diana Sue Smith (husband Jim) of Waldron,
Lisa Vierling (husband Donnie) of Flat Rock; 2 step daughters- Mary Ann Beckley
(husband Rhet) of Shelbyville, Cheryl Bartlett of Shelbyville; 5 grandchildren;
12 great-grand children; 3 step-grand children and 3 step great-grand children.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, and grandson Brandon Beckley.
Mr. Duncan was a lifetime resident of this area and graduated from Waldron
High School in 1948. He worked at Cunningham Gardens for 50 plus years,
attended Shelbyville Community Church, was a member of American 
Legion Post #70 and Waldron Volunteer Fire Department. Alfred was a US
Army Veteran serving in Korea.
Alfred enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, flowers
and taking rides through the country. He especially loved his family and his
extended family and never knew a stranger.
A Private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with burial in 
Van Pelt Cemetery. Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home are handling
the arrangements.
