Alma Margareat (Chandler) Furlough-Dake, 92, of Fairland passed away, April 4, 2022 at her residence. Alma "Punch" was born on September 10, 1929, in Ardmore, Alabama to Albert and Mattie (Mullins) Chandler.
On November 15, 1946 she married Milton T. Furlough and moved to Indiana. Alma loved to travel, sew, plant flowers in her garden, take drives through the country and spend time with her family. Taking care of her children was her greatest joy and accomplishment. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed teasing people. On March 21, 1998 she married Robert Dake while living in Fairland.
She is survived by her four children-Jim Furlough of Rapidan, VA, Sue Tehrani (Abbas) of Sykesville, MD, Tonia Collins (Richard) of Shelbyville, Michelle Balting (Todd) of Fairland; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 spouses, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, and 1grandchild.
Alma attended High School in Alabama, was a homemaker and a member of Fairland Baptist Church. She had lived in this area for 50 plus years after moving from Indianapolis.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Rd, with Pastor Ben VonBergen officiating. Friends may call on Thursday morning from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery.
