Anthony "Tony" Higgins Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Higgins, 69, of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at home with family.

Born June 3, 1953 in Shelbyville, he was the son of William M. Higgins and Carol I. (McComas) Higgins. He married Patricia "Patty" Kuhn of Shelbyville on May 10, 1987 and she survives.

Survivors include wife Patty, daughter Kristina Higgins of Indianapolis, and many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, William "Leroy" Higgins, Timothy "Tom" Higgins, and 2 sisters, Ginger Russell and Pepper Kent.

Mr. Higgins was a lifelong resident of this area and graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1971. He was a rural carrier for Fountaintown Post Office, delivering mail for over 30 years. Tony enjoyed spending time with family and friends, mornings spent at Cracker Barrel, and watching the wildlife on the farm on the Big Blue River. He had a passion for all things Beatles, Indy 500, March Madness, and golf. His wit and humor lifted our spirits and he will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank OUR Hospice of South Central Indiana, the breakfast staff of the Shelbyville Cracker Barrel and all those who loved him.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, on Monday, May 15, 2023 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor Jerri Cadwallader officiating.  Burial will be in Zion Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service, at the funeral home.

Memorial donations can be made to OUR Hospice of South Central Indiana, in care of the funeral home.
