Betty R. Hester

Betty R. Hester, 87, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Ashford Place Health Campus.

Born August 29, 1935 in Beech Grove, she was the daughter of Boyd Camp and Dorothy (King) Camp. She married Jerry L. Thurston in 1959 and he preceded her in 1975, she then married Lowell L. Hester in 1979 and he preceded her in 2013.

Survivors include 4 children- Eric L. Thurston (Christina) of Shelbyville, Brian W. Thurston (Teresa) of Harrison, OH, Scott Thurston (Amy) of Greenfield, Victoria L. Thurston of Geneva; brother Richard W. Camp of Beech Grove; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 spouses and brother Boyd Camp.

Mrs. Hester had lived in this area her entire lifetime and graduated from Beech Grove High School in 1953. She was employed with Walmart in the cash office for many years and also Hubler Ford for several years, retiring from there. Betty was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Betty enjoyed camping and playing Bingo. She loved cooking, reading, and line dancing.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
