Beulah J. Nickel, 88, former Shelby County resident, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020
at Eagle Valley Meadows in Indianapolis.
Born December 14, 1931 in Boggstown, she was the daughter of Earl and Myrtle Betts.
Survivors include a son Emmett Lawless (wife Teresa) of Morristown, a daughter Jan Jennings
of Gainesville, Florida; 4 grandchildren- Jason Lawless, Lyndsay Jennings, Andrew Abrams, Anthony
Abrams; and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, a daughter Crystal Lawless
Gerding, granddaughter Shanna Doreston; and 3 brothers & 3 sisters.
Mrs. Nickel was a resident of St. Petersburg Florida for 40 years. She had been a nurse with the Twin
Towers Nursing Facility in Pasadena, Florida for 12 years, and had previously been employed by Western
Electric in Indianapolis. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1950, and received her degree
in Nursing from the University of Florida.
Beulah enjoyed art and painting, and creating pottery and ceramics.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
