Billy Parsley Obituary

Billy Joe "Bill" Parsley, 80, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Community South Hospital.

Born April 30, 1943 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Russell N. Parsley and Mary Catherine (Moore) Parsley. He married Wilma (Collier) Parsley on August 10, 1961 and she survives.

Other survivors include a son Brent Parsley (wife Jenny) of Shelbyville; a daughter Kimberly Stephens (husband Curt) of Batesville; a brother Meredith "Butch" Murray (wife Paula) of Scottsburg; sister Marcia Sebastain of Scottsburg; 5 grandchildren- Lindsey, Darin, Bryce, Addy, Mason; 6 great grandchildren- Montana, Selina, Jax, Waylon, Briar, and Chance. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Parsley was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1961. He had been a police officer for the Shelbyville Police Department, retiring after 27 years of service. He was a member of Shelbyville Fraternal Order of Police. Bill was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed archery, wood working, and dearly loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon on Friday, November 17, 2023 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Rev. Charles "Pastor Chuck" Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, on Friday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
