Cary D. Newton, 61, of Greensburg and formerly of Evansville and Shelbyville, IN passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020, at the Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg.
Born on July 30, 1959 in Shelbyville, IN, he was the youngest son of Thomas H. Newton Sr. and Dorothy L. (Turner) Newton and grew up in Shelbyville. While Attending Shelbyville High School, he lettered in four different sports. Upon graduation in 1977, Cary attended Purdue University in West Lafayette.
Survivors include two brothers - Alan K. Newton (wife Donna), of Grand Haven, Michigan, and Thomas H. (Newton, Jr.) Miller (wife Judy) of Manilla; three nieces - Kathryn Miller of St. Louis, Missouri, Cecilia Otvos-Pratt of Leander, Texas, and Sarah Struck of Austin, Texas; one nephew - Thomas C. Miller of St. Louis, Missouri; and one great-niece - Julia Faye Pratt of Leander, Texas. Cary was preceded in death by his parents.
Prior to debilitating strokes in March of 2017, Cary was a Senior Project Engineer for Azteca Milling in Evansville.
Cary selflessly volunteered his time to the Moose and Elk Lodges, American Legion Post 265 in Evansville, and was a Shriner. He enjoyed watching and attending Chicago Cubs, Indianapolis Colts, and Purdue football and basketball games with his friends. He was known by many of his friend's children as Uncle Cary.
Memorial contributions can be made in Cary's memory to the American Stroke Association.
