Clovis Dale DeWitt Jr.

Clovis Dale DeWitt, Jr., 73, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital.

Born February 20,1950 in Rushville, he was the son of Clovis Dale DeWitt Sr. and Rosemary (Crisman) DeWitt. He married Peggy (Woodall) DeWitt on July 2, 1988 and she survives.

Other survivors include 6 children- Dale DeWitt of Shelbyville, Michael DeWitt (wife Leah) of Shelbyville, Megan Gerber of Anderson, Jimmie Stephens (wife Lisa) of Shelbyville, Clarissa Wurtzbaugh (husband Brian) of Shelbyville, Anthony "Tyson" Stephens (wife Lindy) of Shelbyville; 2 brothers- Danny DeWitt (wife Joy) of Shelbyville, Tim DeWitt of Indianapolis; 3 sisters- Linda Stump (husband Dale) of Boggstown, Penny Mullins (husband Ralph) of Indianapolis, Pam Jones (husband Alan) of Indianapolis; 14 grand children, and 4 great grand children. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Michelle Merritt; 2 sisters- Sharon Cobler and Vickie Bowman, and a brother Walker DeWitt.

Mr. DeWitt was a lifelong resident of this area, and was a member of Cornerstone Christian Fellowship. He had been employed with Knauf Fiber Glass, retiring after over 20 years of service.

Dale loved playing basketball, fishing, eating out with friends and family, listening to Beatles music, and spending time with his dog Evie.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am on Friday, September 1, 2023 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor George Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday evening, August 31, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at the funeral home.
