Donald Gene Meyer, 90, of Fairland, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020
at Heritage House Nursing Facility.
Born June 6, 1930 in Oldenburg, Indiana, he was the son of Louis & Ethel (Gunter)
Meyer. He married Shari Mae Vernon on October 25, 1952 and she survives.
Survivors include children- Robert (wife Pam) Meyer, Christie (husband Mark) Miller-
Leaser, James (wife Jan) Meyer, Kimberlie Gann-Mobley, and Cathie (husband Charlie) Faust;
12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren with one on the way and 1 great great
granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty Lou (John)
Rohlfing, brother Glenn Ray Meyer and granddaughter Jina Lea Meyer.
Donald had lived in Fairland area his entire lifetime and had been a dairy farmer
in Fairland until he began driving a semi-truck for May & Company in 1960.
He drove a semi-truck for nearly 50 years. Donald graduated from Waldron
High School in 1947 and served in the United States Army from 1952-1953
including being overseas during the Korean War. He was a member of New
Life United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
Donald enjoyed spending time with his family, farming, social dancing, Big
Band music, and driving his semi-truck.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 17, 2020 at 11:00am at New Life United Methodist church, 6145 N. 400 W. Fairland, with Pastor Jolita Erbele officiating.  Visitation 
will be held on Sunday evening, August 16, 2020 from 4-8:00 pm at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Rd, and also from 10:00 am until the time of the service on
Monday, at the church. Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery, with a graveside military service conducted by local military veterans.
 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be 
made to New Life United Methodist Shelter House Fund in memory of Donald G. Meyer.
The family wishes to thank Heritage House personnel for their kindness and 
compassion during Donald's two- year stay.
