Elinor L. Thopy, 84, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 at her residence.
Born August 22, 1935 in Johnson County, she was the daughter of Mark C. Stanton and
Mildred E. (Stubbs) Stanton. She married Harold W. Thopy on April 11, 1954 and he survives.
Other survivors include 2 sons- Tony Thopy (wife Bonnie) of Shelbyville, Troy Thopy (wife Jennifer)
of Shelbyville; brother Dan Stanton, sisters Jane Ann Roberts, Rebecca Parks; grandson Ethan
Wayne Thopy of Shelbyville, granddaughter Camille Thopy of Shelbyville; and several nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 8 brothers and sisters- Don Stanton,
Dave Stanton, Jerry Stanton, Joe Stanton, Jimmy Stanton, Norma Meyers, Mary Brown, and
Bob Stanton.
Mrs. Thopy had been employed as a data entry operator at Arvin's for 26 years, retiring in 1991.
She graduated from Boggstown High School in 1953, and was a member of Town & Country Christian
Church, Eastern Star, and the 4-H.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Monday, August 3, 2020 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437
Amos Road, with Rev. Don Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery. Friends may call
on Monday morning from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
