Floyd J. Arthur, 92, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, August 29, 2022 at Heritage House.
Born May 31, 1930 in Bloomington Indiana, he was the son of George C. Arthur and Hurley L. (Honeycutt) Arthur. He married Lou Ann (Ballenger) Arthur on December 24, 1970, and she survives.
Other survivors include 8 children- Floyd Edward Arthur (wife Brenda) of Salisbury, North Carolina, Debra Irene Horney (husband David Alan) of Fishers, Susan L. Sullivan of Shelbyville, Kerry May of Shelbyville, Jerry May (wife Susana) of Wilmington, North Carolina, Larry May of Florida, Brian Hurley (wife Kelly) of Colorado, Bradley Hurley of South Carolina; 14 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons- Zerry May and Kim May, a sister Betty Barnes, and son-in-law Larry Sullivan.
Mr. Arthur was a lifelong resident of this area. He had been an owner/operator truck driver for several years, a mechanic/truck driver for International Harvester, and a mechanic with Schumaker Bros. for many years. Floyd loved woodworking and building furniture. The family will treasure the mementos and items he had made for them. He also enjoyed gardening, tinkering, and was always working on something.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Eddie Arthur officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday morning from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
