Fredrick Holzhausen Obituary

On Saturday, August 1, 2020, God took Fredrick “Dale” Holzhausen, 88, of Shelbyville, into His everlasting arms, while surrounded by his family at MHP. He was born February 1, 1932 in Decatur County, the son of Fred and Lena (Kruse) Holzhausen. He married Ruby Williamson on February 16, 1951 and she survives. Other survivors include his son, Stephen (Kristy) Holzhausen, and daughter, Regina Holzhausen, both of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Michael (Dana) Holzhausen of Greenfield, Bambi (Jason) Garrison of Shelbyville, Christopher (Ashley) Holzhausen of Columbus and Andrew Holzhausen; great grandchildren, Tristian, Ryleigh, Chloe, Macy, Jake, Colton, Julie, Elle, Parker and Kenny. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark Holzhausen; brother, Leslie Holzhausen and sister, Estel Mae Williamson. Dale was a lifetime resident of the area. He graduated from Sandusky High School in 1950. A master craftsman, he owned Holzhausen Construction, Inc. for 30 years, retired from Naval Air Warfare Center and installation for Bishopp’s Appliances. Dale was a veteran, having served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was proud to be chosen for a 2016 Honor Flight to Washington, DC in recognition of his service to his country. Dale loved his family, his farm, and his God. He was a quiet man who modeled patience, strength, character and integrity through good times, sickness and disappointments. He had a big heart, always willing to lend a hand to someone in need, and if possible, anonymously. He was a 70 year member of Apostolic Tabernacle. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2020, at Apostolic Tabernacle Church, 1500 Miller Avenue, Shelbyville, with Pastor Daniel McDonald and Rev. Tim Streeval officiating. Visitation will be at the church Saturday morning from 11 a.m. until service time. Masks will be required and social distancing will be observed in compliance with government guidelines. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville, with a graveside military service conducted by a local veterans organization. Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, Amos Road, is serving the family.
