Gary Jones Obituary

Gary Wayne Jones, 72, of Boggstown, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023 at his residence.

Born May 24, 1950 in Madison, Tennesse, he was the son of John William 'JW" Jones and Nellie Marie (Hopkins) Jones. He married Sandra K. (Hacker) Jones on November 6, 1994 and she survives. 

Other survivors include children- Regina Marie Hampton (Johnny Mack Drusendahl) of Crane Texas, Monica Renee Jones Higdon (Darrell) of Needham, Anjanette Cravens (Sean) of Indianapolis, Jason Jones (Victoria) of Abilene, Texas, Suzannah Dawn Hampton of Fortville, David Andrew Hampton of San Angelo, Texas; 19 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Paul and grandson Devin Michael Cravens.

Mr. Jones had lived in this area since 1973 after previously moving from Indianapolis. His occupation was a millwright with Navistar in Indy for 40 years, retiring in 2010. Gary graduated from Southport High School in 1968. Gary Wayne loved his horses and mules, traveling, and he loved people in general. The room would light up when Gary would enter. He dearly loved his entire family, grandchildren, and friends. He had a beautiful smile for everyone, even throughout his battle with cancer, he always had a kind word for each and everyone.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Friday, April 28, 2023 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Rd, with Pastor Andy Lee officiating. Friends may call on Thursday, April 27 from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to Shelby County Cancer Association, in care of the funeral home.
