Helen Richards Obituary


Helen M. Richards, 96, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2020
at Homeview Center in Franklin.
 Born May 26, 1923 in Ripley County, she was the daughter of Edward Kieffer and
Loretta (Schafer) Kieffer.  She married Clyde E. Richards on February 19, 1944 and
he preceded her on April 18, 2002.
Survivors include 2 sons- Louis Richards (wife Amy Cloncs) of Roachdale, Robert
Richards (wife Paula) of Franklin; daughters- Carolyn Scott (husband Richard) of
Sellersburg, Therese Richards of Sellersburg, Eileen Davis of Sellersburg; brother
Edward Kieffer (wife Sarah) of Evansville, sister Agnes Meltzer of Shelbyville; 9 
grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents,
spouse, son Dennis Richards, daughter Joan Richards, 2 sisters Florence Brown, Elizabeth
McMahon, and brother Robert Kieffer.
Mrs. Richards had lived in this area for most of her lifetime and attended New Marion High 
School in Ripley County.  She was a home maker, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, 
and St. Anne's Alter Society.
Helen enjoyed cooking, gardening, attending family reunions, playing cards, sewing and crafts, 
and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral
Home, 437 Amos Road, with Rev. Mike Keucher officiating.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic 
Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
Rosary will be recited on Monday at 11:30 am.
