James Terry Cole, 71, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, July 17, 2020 at
Roudebush VA Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born August 25, 1948 in Shelbyville, he was the son of James Kenneth Cole and
Betty Joan (Rouse) Cole. He married Patricia A. (Brown) Cole on April 26, 1974
and she survives.
Other survivors include a daughter Tera Gooch (husband Ed) of Flat Rock, a son
Craig Sullivan (wife Lori) of Avon; 3 siblings- David Cole (wife Billie Vic) of Kingman,
Arizona, Carla Markley of Shelbyville, Cindy Hubbard (husband Mike) of Morristown;
5 grandchildren- Lauryn Gooch, Conner Gooch, Michael Sullivan, Tabitha Sullivan &
Mallory Moench. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 stepsons- Brian
Sullivan and Jeff Sullivan.
Mr. Cole was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from Morristown High
School in 1968. He had been employed as a truck driver with Transervice Logistics,
retiring after many years of service. He was member of Ray's Crossing Christian
Union Church, a member of Knightstown American Legion Post #152, American
Legion Riders, he founded the HAP (Homeless Assistance Project) for veterans,
and a member of Weir Cook Foundation for Veterans. He was a US Army Vietnam
veteran.
James enjoyed riding his cycle with Patty, mowing grass, and working with veteran
programs.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
