Jo Overly Obituary

Jo M. Overly, 67, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023 at her residence.

Born May 3, 1955 in Casey County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Donald Eugene Browning and Aldina (Price) Browning.  She married John W. Overly on August 16, 1986 and he survives.

Survivors include a son Ed Parker; a brother Kenneth Browning (wife Karen) of Shelbyville; a sister Betty Crouch (husband Ted) of Shelbyville; and 2 grandchildren Morgan & Emily Parker. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Donna Kastle, and 3 brothers - Larry Browning, Donald Browning, and Herschel Browning.

Mrs. Overly was a lifelong resident of this area, except for 19 years she spent in Michigan, and attended Shelbyville High School.  She had worked in food service at Major Hospital for several years.  She was a member of American Legion Post #70, and Shelbyville Eagles Lodge #766.

Funeral services will be 6:00 pm on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road with Rev. Bill Horner officiating.  Friends may call on Friday afternoon from 4:00 pm until the time of the service.

Memorial contributions can be made to Shelby County Cancer Association, in care of the funeral home.

There will be a Gathering of Friends and a meal at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Kenny Browning's home, located at 704 Montgomery Street
