Joella Mohr Obituary


Joella G. Mohr, 96, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Heritage House. Born October 17, 1925 in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Joel Barnes and Lorene (Rudicial) Barnes.  She married Robert E. Mohr on June 11, 1946 and he preceded her on November 30, 2007.

Survivors include a daughter- Pamela Swift (husband Larry) of Nashville, Tennessee, 2 sons- Michael Mohr of Indianapolis, and J Scott Mohr of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, & 2 sisters- Gaynelle & Evelyn.

Mrs. Mohr was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from Waldron High School;. She was a homemaker but  had been a secretary for Homer Lumber Company for 25 years, a member of Homer Federated Christian Church, and was a volunteer at Major Hospital for several years. Joella had  volunteering throughout the community, and enjoyed playing the piano and organ.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery, with Rev. David Humphrey officiating.  No visiting hours will be observed.

Memorial contributions can be made to OUR Hospice of South Central Indiana, in care of the funeral home.
