John Mullen Obituary


John Edward Mullen, 74, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, October 23, 2020 at his residence with family by his side.  

 

Born March 1, 1946 in Shelby County, he was the son of Bernard and Dorothy (Siefert) Mullen. Mr. Mullen was a lifelong resident of this area, and attended Southwestern High School and Clark College. He was owner/operator of Mullen Transport for 30 years, retiring in 2007. John was a loving father, generous brother, fun uncle and animal lover. John was an avid sports gambler and enjoyed spending time with lifelong friends at the American Legion. In his later years, he also traveled with family to various places and fulfilled his wish to see a space shuttle launch. He had a witty personality and always made people laugh until the end.  

 

Mr. Mullen is survived by his two daughters, Temple Mullen and Tammy Lovell (husband Robb); two grandchildren Avery and Tate Lovell all of Henderson, Nevada. He is also survived by his brother Ronnie Mullen (wife Lana) of Shelbyville; and his two sisters Linda Barrett (husband Mike) of Greenfield and Bev Hittle (husband Leroy) of Shelbyville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Kenny Mullen.  

 

Funeral services will be  2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with burial in Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. A graveside military service will be conducted by a local veteran’s organization.  

 

Memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society or ASPCA. in care of the funeral home.
