Joyce G. Brown

Joyce G. Brown, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Waldron Health Care.

Born March 9, 1941 in Columbus, she was the daughter of Elbert Green Pittman and Gertrude Louise (Heitz) Pittman. She married Bernie Alan "Charlie" Brown on September 9,1967, and he preceded her on November 1, 2008.

Survivors include 4 children- Deborah Pittman (significant other Janet Holley) of Columbus, Tony Brown of Iowa, Paula Schonfeld (husband Scott) of Shelbyville, Stacey Heath (husband Jeff) of Columbus; 12 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, 2 sons David Brown and Rudy Brown, a grandson- Cory Sidwell, and a great granddaughter- Elizabeth Pittman.

Mrs. Brown had lived in this area for 40 years, after moving from Iowa. She had been employed as a server/hostess at Cracker Barrell in Taylorsville for 25 years, and also was employed with the Holiday Inn Express in Taylorsville for several years. Joyce enjoyed their annual trips to Daytona Beach. She loved to work, dance, watch her sons with their boxing matches, and spending time with her grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
