Joyce A. Slaven

Joyce A. Slaven, 79, of Fairland, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 at
MHP Medical Center.
Born May 3, 1940 in Monticello, Kentucky, she was the daughter of George
Woody and Geneva (Meredith) Woody. She married Oran Ray Slaven and he 
survives.
  Other survivors include 3 children- Donald Ray Slaven (wife Anita) of Shelbyville,
 Michael Slaven (wife Thresa) of Morristown, Chastity Crain (husband Joey) of
Shelbyville; a sister Shirley Simpson of Monticello, Kentucky; 7 grandchildren, and
9 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Oran
Eugen Slaven, several brothers and sisters, and grandson Jeremy Slaven.
Mrs.Slaven had lived over 60 years in this area, after moving from Kentucky.  She
had been a cook at the old Chicken & Steal Inn for many years, and  also had been
a door greeter with Wal Mart for several years. She was a member of the Fairland 
Christian Church.  
Joyce enjoyed traveling, shopping, going out to eat, and spending time with her 
family and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Glenn E. George &
Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor Les Beardon officiating.  Burial will
be in Fairland Cemetery.  Friends may call on Tuesday morning from 11:00 am
until the time of the service.
