Kermit Martin Obituary


Kermit R. Martin, 78, of Shelby County, passed away Monday, March 8, 2021
at MHP Medical Center.
Born October 23, 1942 in Beech Grove, he was the son of Ezra Raymond Martin
and Zella (Bernard) Martin.  He married Susan L. (Holder) Martin on July 4, 1968
and she survives.
Other survivors include 3 children- Jonathan Martin (partner Robin Allen) of Indianapolis,
Daniel Martin (wife Kim) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Laura Tice (husband Ray) of Speedway;
a sister- Karen Bratton (husband Harold) of Plainfield; 7 grandchildren- Meghan Martin,
Eric Martin, Evan Martin, Tyler Martin, Maggie Martin, Paul Tice, and Benjamin Tice.  He was
preceded in death by his parents, a brother Kevin Martin, and a sister Kathy Martin.
Mr. Martin was a lifelong resident of this area and graduated from Franklin Central High School
in 1960.  He had been a factory worker at Ford Motor Company for 42 years, retiring in 2007.
He was a member of Acton Baptist Church and the American Legion.  He was a US Marine Corp
veteran, attaining the rank of Corporal.
Kermit enjoyed coaching basketball, football, and baseball for Triton Youth Athletic Association in earlier 
years, hunting, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.  He was an avid fan and supporter 
of the Indy Americana Band Sindacato, of which his son was a member.

A Celebration of Life will be 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home,
437 Amos Road, with visitation there from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.  Burial will be in Pleasant
View Cemetery.
