Lois Byrnes Obituary


Lois F. Byrnes, 93, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021
at OUR Hospice of South Central Indiana. Born January 21, 1928 in Shelbyville,
she was the daughter of Russell and Mary (Gosch) Boger. She was preceded in death
by 3 husbands- Kenneth Coy, James Woolard and Donald Byrnes.
Survivors include children- Sharon Hatfield of Shelbyville, Larry (Patty) Schofner of 
Greensburg,  grand daughters- Angie McCarter of Martinsville and April Chancy, whom she raised; 
grandchildren- Lance Schofner and Dustin Hatfield; 6 step grandchildren and 3 adopted grand daughters; 9
great grand children , 4 great great grandchildren and 8 step children. She was preceded 
in death by her parents, 3 sisters- Martha Zinser, Evelyn Jackson, Ces Boring; 2 brothers-
Gene Boger, Lawrence Boger; 3 step children- Janice Singer, Donald Woolard and Rick 
Woolard.
Mrs. Byrnes was a lifetime resident of this area and was a self employed seamstress. She 
graduated from Waldron High School class of 1946, was a member of Lewis Creek Baptist
Church, a 4-H leader for 19 years, a member of Eastern Star for over 50 years, a member of
the Mystery Pals extension club for 50 years, and a seamstress for the Shelbyville Community
Theatre. Lois enjoyed working puzzles, playing cards, traveling, but most of all loved spending
time with her family.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Lewis Creek Baptist Church,
1400 E 600 S. Waldron, with Pastor Harvey Taylor officiating. Burial will be held in Lewis
Creek Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 4:00-8:00pm
at the funeral home.
Memorial donations can be made to Lewis Creek Baptist Church or Our Hospice of South
Central Indiana, in care of the funeral home.
