Marcus Childers Obituary


Marcus B. Childers, 57, of Rushville, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022 at his residence. Born January 7, 1965 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Fred Childers and Lou Ellen (Buchanan) Childers.  He married Rhonda (Stafford) Childers on May 22, 2001 and she survives.

Other survivors include 3 stepchildren- Rachel Wainscott (husband Michael) of Shelbyville, Jerry Pogue of Rushville, James Pogue of Shelbyville; 5 siblings-Rick Childers of New Palestine, Robert Childers (wife Jenny) of Georgia, Tammy Headlee (husband Jerry) of Shelbyville, Fred Childers Jr. of Rushville, Monita Emrich (husband Phil) of Columbus; and 5 step grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and  2 brothers- Darin & Todd Childers.

Mr. Childers was a lifelong resident of this area, and attended Shelbyville High School and earned his GED at a later date.  He was a self employed handyman for many years. Marcus enjoyed music, drawing, cooking, and his dog Winkie.  He was a practical joker, and was an avid Grateful Dead fan.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Sunset Park in Shelbyville.
