Margaret Nelson Obituary


Former Shelby County resident, Margaret L. Nelson, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday,
May 30, 2019 at Rosegate Village in Indianapolis.
Born March 26, 1927 in Ruth, Kentucky, she was the daughter of James Stephens and Florence
Drucilla (Vaughn) Loveless.  She married James D. Nelson on May 15, 1953 and he passed away
on February 20, 1979.
Survivors include 2 children- Ricky W. Nelson of Shelbyville, Deborah Goddard (husband Glen) of
Fortville; 4 grandchildren- Zachary P. Nelson, Maretta K. Nelson, both of New Palestine, Matthew 
Goddard (wife Jennifer) of Monroe, Louisana, John Goddard (wife Jessica) of Indianapolis, and 4 
great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, sister Betty Jo Lambert, 
and several half brothers and half sisters.
Mrs. Nelson had lived in this area since 1953, after moving from Kentucky.  She had worked at Plymate
Laundry for 20 years, and was a member of Apostolic Tabernacle Church since 1949.
Margaret was an avid seamstress, and enjoyed flowers and gardening.  She was a faithful wife, caregiver,
and church member for many years.  She loved her family, grandchildren, and her dog Scooby Doo.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Apostolic Tabernacle Church, 1500 Miller Avenue, Shelbyville, with
Pastor Daniel McDonald officiating.  Visitation will be observed from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
Burial will be in Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery.  
Memorial contributions can be made to Apostolic Christian School.
