Marilyn J. Sullivan

Marilyn J. Sullivan, 83, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Community Hospital East.

Born November 14, 1939 in New Castle, Indiana, she was the daughter of Horace "Pete" Shepherd and Ellen (Hernly) Shepherd.  She married Raymond H. "Ray" Sullivan on August 26, 1961 and he survives.

Other survivors include a daughter Shannon Hudson (husband Doug) of Crawfordsville; one grandson- Tyler Hudson of Peru, Indiana; 2 step grand daughters, and 5 step great grand daughters.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister Peggy Lamb.

Mrs. Sullivan had lived in this area since 1974, after moving from Bloomington/Normal, Illinois. She graduated from New Castle High School, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the PSI IOTA XI Sorority, was a Girl Scout Registrar, a former president of the Shelby County Council on Aging, and a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Marilyn was an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling, and loved watching the Hallmark Channel. She enjoyed Bible Study and attending church functions, and was a huge Statler Brothers fan. She loved playing board games and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm on Monday, July 31, 2023 at South Mound Cemetery, 505 Bundy Ave., New Castle, Indiana, with Rev. Bruce Banister officiating. Friends may call locally on Monday morning, July 31, 2023 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon, at the Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home 437 Amos Road.
