Martha A. Dooley, 95, of Flat Rock, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Ashford Place
Health Campus.
Born May 31, 1924 in Shelby County, she was the daughter of John and Bertha Victoria
(Maze) Hatton. She married Lyman Ellis Dooley Jr. and he preceded her on February 17, 1986.
Survivors include a daughter Kathy Veerkamp (husband Jim) of Flat Rock, sons Mike Dooley (wife
Sally) of New Palestine, Jonathan "JT" Dooley of Hope; daughter-in-law Sharen Dooley of Shelbyville;
2 grandchildren- Jonathan Lewis Dooley,
Natalie Victoria Anne Veerkamp; 4 great grandchildren- Liam, James, Aubrey, Emma Jane; and 3
step grandchildren- Christopher Ford, Stacie Burke, and Bryan Ford. She was preceded in death
by her parents, her spouse, and 9 brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Dooley was a lifelong resident of this area, and was a home maker. She graduated from Waldron
High School in 1942 and had attended Franklin College. She was a member of Wesley Chapel Wesleyan
Church and the Lucky 15 Home Economics Club.
Martha enjoyed writing music and poems, gardening, reading her Bible, and spending time with her
grand children and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home,
437 Amos Road, with Rev. David Little officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Shelby
County. Friends may call on Friday evening, March 6, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the
funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Wesley Chapel Wesleyan Church in care of the funeral home.
