Martha Lou "Marty" Hurst

Martha Lou "Marty" Hurst, 95, of St. Paul, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Aspen Place In Greensburg.  She was born
in St. Paul on September 2, 1926 to Lawrence and Verney (Favor) Wiley.  She graduated from St. Paul High School in 1944.  
After high school, Marty worked at Public Service Company in Shelbyville, and later worked at the State Bank of Waldron.
She married Donn Hurst on June 26, 1948 and  he preceded her in death in 2017.
Marty loved music, and was gifted with a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing at church.  She was a member of Union Chapel United
 Methodist Church where she was song leader and choir director for many, many years.  Marty loved her church family, and was also a
member of the St. Paul Friend's of Music Club.
Marty loved her  family.  She is survived by 2 daughters- Karen Hurst of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Kathleen Morton (husband Raymond) of Greensburg; 
3 grandchildren- Brian Morton of St. Paul, Jill McFarling (husband Bart) of Scottsdale Arizona, and Barry Morton (Wife Jessi) of Katy, Texas. She also has
4 great grandchildren- Sveta Morton, Elliott Morton, Asher Morton, and Lauren McFarling.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 69 years, 
and an infant brother.
Services will be 11:00 am on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Glenn E. George Funeral Home, 106 E. Franklin St., St. Paul, with burial in Union Chapel Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday evening, January 14, 2022, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Union Chapel United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home.
