Martha R. "Marty Kay" Schwier

Martha R. "Marty Kay" Schwier, 77, of Manilla, passed away Monday, September 18, 2023 at her residence.

Born on April 21, 1946 in Orange County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Raymond Earl Glover and Elsie Mae (Hankins) Glover. She was married to William "Bill" Schwier for 35 years.

Survivors include husband "Bill"; sister Phyllis Gotcher of Manilla; several nieces and nephews; 2 step grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and her 3 brothers- Donald, Robert and John Thomas.

Mrs. Schwier lived in this area most of her lifetime and graduated from Rushville High School. She was a secretary for Naval Avionics for several years and gift shop owner for Marty's Country Peddler for 20 years. Marty was a member of Blue Ridge Christian Union Church for 30 years. Marty loved to decorate and enjoyed working in her shop. She enjoyed socializing with her friends at Burger King and Cracker Barrel, and traveling with her sister Phyllis. She especially loved her dog Pandi. Marty was strong in her faith, and loved her church and attending church activities.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Monday, September 25, 2023 at Blue Ridge Christian Union Church, 466 S 775 E, Shelbyville, with burial in Blue Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church. Pastor James Thurman will be officiating.
