Maxine Hicks Obituary


Maxine Mae Hicks, 91, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, May 8, 2020 at 
Aperion Health Care.
Born April 19, 1929 in Harrison County Indiana, she was the daughter of Shirley 
Francis "Bud" Fox and Helen Louise (Reising) Fox.  She married Marvin Franklin
Hicks on December 31, 1949 and he passed in 2013.
Survivors include 4 sons- Robert Hicks (wife Vicki) of Shelbyville, Donald Hicks of
Shelbyville, Mark Hicks of Shelbyville, Dennis Hicks (wife Cassandra) of Westfield;
11 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her
parents, her spouse, and an infant daughter Carol Ruth Hicks.
Mrs. Hicks had lived most of her lifetime in this area, and graduated from Morristown
High School in 1947. She had been a factory worker with Overhead Door Corp. in
Shelbyville for 15 years, and served as the local UAW president.  She had also tended 
bar at Kettler's Tavern for several years.  She attended Bible Holiness Church and was
a member of VFW Auxiliary Post# 2695, where she served as past commander.
Maxine enjoyed playing piano, playing euchre, volunteering for various charitable
organizations, and was an avid Cincinnati Reds baseball fan.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Glenn E. George & Son 
Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor Merry Popplewell officiating.  Burial will be
 in Forest Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call on Tuesday morning from 11:00 am until the
time of the service.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in care of the
funeral home.
