Michael McAlister Obituary


Michael W. McAlister, 65, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020 at
Franciscan Health.
Born January 6, 1955 in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the son of Melvin Eugene McAlister
and Frances Ioan (Evans) McAlister.  He married Maria (Beyer) McAlister on March 29, 1997
and she survives. 
Other survivors include 2 children- Donna McAlister and Michael Edward McAlister, both of
Shelbyville; 5 siblings- Rick Evans (wife Linda) of Kansas, Edward Moore of Connersville,
 Marietta Armstrong of Connersville, Cheryl French of Kansas, and Debbie Alquisira of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. McAlister had lived in this area for over 30 years, after moving from Rushville.  He graduated from
Rushville Consolidated High School in 1973, was a member of Fairland Christian Church, and had
been a delivery driver for Compton Dairy for several years.  He was a US Army veteran.
Michael enjoyed geneology, Facebook, watching TV, drinking coffee, collecting John Deere memorabilia 
and coffee mugs, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.  He dearly loved his dog Rocky.
Private services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral
Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastors Les Beardon and Michael Rogers officiating. Visitation will be from
11:00 am until the time of the service.  In accordance will the Covid 19 mandates, only 10 people at a 
time will be allowed in the room.
Memorial contributions can be made to Fairland Christian Church in care of the funeral home
