Nora McClanahan Obituary


Nora Ann McClanahan, 94, of Fairland, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020 at her residence. 
Born November 27, 1925 in Lee County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Thomas and Bruce (Durbin) Pigg. She married
Rev. Vernard W. McClanahan on October 7, 1944 and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2009.  
Survivors include daughter, Alice B. McClanahan of Lexington, KY and son, Mark ( wife Pam) McClanahan of Fairland, IN.1 sister- Mae Watts of Nicholsville, KY. She 
is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Daniel McClanahan of Downers Grove, IL; Dia Madden of Indianapolis; Matthew McClanahan of
Bloomington, IN; Nora Baldwin of Greenfield; and John Mark McClanahan Jr. of Muncie, IN. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 5 brothers, 3 sisters, Granddaughter, Krystal Harding; and a son, V.W. McClanahan.
Mrs. McClanahan was a resident of Shelby County for 69 years after moving from Kentucky. Nora graduated from high school in Heidelberg, Ky and also attended Evansville College. She served as a pastors wife for 58 years with the American Baptist Church. She attended Beacon Baptist Church of Shelbyville. 
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at 11:00 am, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Rev. Ernie James
officiating. Burial will be at Fairland Cemetery in Shelby County.   Visitation will be Tuesday, September 22, 2020 from 5 - 7 PM at the funeral home.  
Memorial donations may be made to the Beacon Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
