Paul Richard Jones

Paul Richard Jones, 84, of Shelbyville, passed away August 18, 2019 at University Heights Health
Care in Indianapolis.
Born February 7, 1935 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Stanley Jones and Catherine (Stone)
Jones.  He married Linda (Lewis) Jones on October 14, 1995 and she preceded him on March 16, 2013.
Survivors include 3 daughters- Denise Anderson of Whiteland, Lisa Whitacre of Mooresville, Terri
Benefiel of Greenwood; 2 sons- Anthony Carpenter of Little Rock, Arkansas, Thomas
Carpenter of Shelbyville; sister- Jacqueline Brinkley of Arizona; nephew Mike Turner of South Carolina,
niece Susie (Turner) Iwasckiewiez of New Jersey; 4 grandchildren- Riley Carpenter, Jonathan Carpenter, Anthony
Carpenter, & Ruth Carpenter.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse, and a niece Alice Turner.
Mr. Jones had lived in Indiana most of his lifetime, but had lived in Michigan for 18 months , and in
New Jersey for 5 years.  He been been employed as a machinist for  Naval Avionics, American Can, 
Cummins Engine, & Euclid Machine for several years.  He had later been employed at Hoosier Park & Casino
for a few years.   He graduated from Shelbyville High School and was a member of First Christian Church, 
Shelbyville Masonic Lodge, and Murat Shrine.
Paul was an avid card player, and enjoyed fishing, bowling, Cincinnati Reds baseball, Indiana University basketball, 
and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral
Home, 437 Amos Road with Pastor Scott Sharp officiating.   Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.  
Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimers Association or the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal
Shelter, in care of the funeral home.
