Robert Joe Turner

Robert Joe Turner, 79, of Indianapolis, passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 at Wildwood
Health Care Center in Indianapolis.
Born February 28, 1940 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Ulyses Grant Turner and Clara Vonia
(Neal) Turner.  
Survivors include a brother Donald Turner (wife Gretchen) of Shelbyville, a sister Joenita Barton
of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers
Rodney Turner, Grant Turner Jr., Frank I. Turner; and a sister Anna Lucille Howard.  
Mr. Turner graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1957, and had been employed with State Auto Insurance
Co. for 15 years.  He was a US Army veteran, and was personal secretary to Army Joint Chief of Staff
Gen. Anderson.
Robert enjoyed cooking and quilting.
A graveside service will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Forest Hill Cemetery, with
Rev. David Humphrey officiating. 
Memorial contributions can be made to Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (MSAA) in care of the
funeral home.
