Steven Spencer Obituary


Steven R. Spencer, 67, of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021
at Morning Breeze.
Born December 20, 1953 in Madison Indiana, he was the son of Richard C.
Spencer and Jean (Logan) Spencer, and grandson of Ethel Raesner Logan.
He married Barbara (Dean) Spencer on July 28, 2003,  and she survives.
Other survivors include a son- Brian Spencer (wife Dana) of Clearwater, Florida;
2 sisters- Brenda Spencer of New Palestine, Suzanne Spencer of Indianapolis;
brother David Spencer of Greenfield; 4 nieces and nephews- Cary Frey Douglass 
(husband Mike), Paul Frey (wife Tina), Kelly Frye (husband Tim), Avery Spencer; 
2 brothers-in-law Mike Bryant (wife Beth), David Dean; sister-in-law Anna Hunter;
and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his grandmother.
Mr. Spencer was a lifelong resident of this area, graduated from New Palestine High 
School,  and received his BS degree from Purdue University's School of Agriculture.
He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and  had been a Shelby County
Co-Op employee for over 40 years, retiring in 2020.
Steve enjoyed raising beef cattle, was a John Deere collector,  was an avid Purdue
University sports fan, and had a lifelong interest in FFA and 4-H programs. 
Funeral services will be 5:00 pm on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Glenn E. George & Son
Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Rev. Andy Charnstrom officiating.  Burial will be in
Paul Hill Cemetery, in St. Paul.  Friends may call on Thursday afternoon from 3:00 pm
until the time of the service, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Association, or Decatur County
4-H program, in care of the funeral home.
