Susan Lynn Rice

Susan Lynn (Durst) Rice, 71, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023 at her residence.

Born October 24, 1952 in Germantown, Ohio, she was the daughter of Luther E. Durst and Shirley Mae (Ankeney) Durst.  She married Norman I. Rice on November 4, 1978, and he survives. Other survivors include 2 children, 5 step children; a brother Dan Durst (wife Barbara)  of Shelbyville; and 13 grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents- Luther "Ed" & Shirley Durst.

Mrs. Rice had lived in this area since 1976, after moving from California.  She graduated from Valley View High School in Ohio, and attended 2 years of college. She had been a librarian at Shelbyville Central Schools for 15 years. Susan enjoyed shopping, reading, collecting several items, and spending time with her grandchildren.

A Gathering of Friends will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.  

Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Association, or Paradigm Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
