CW4 (Ret)Thomas Lester Flinn, 82, of Shelbyville, passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020
at his residence.
He was born September 3, 1938 in Miami, Florida, the son of Clarence L. Flinn and Pauline
(Breedlove). He married Judith Ann (Oliver) Flinn on August 29, 1958 and she survives.
Other survivors include his son, Michael L. Flinn (wife Kathy Bruns) of Greensburg; two
grandchildren; one brother and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a veteran, and military technician with the Indiana Army National Guard for 41 years,
retiring on September 3, 1998.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, life member of the American Legion, Fraternal
Order of Eagle FOE #766 of Shelbyville, and a life member of the National Guard Association
of Indiana, National Guard Association of the United States, and the Association of the 38th
Infantry Division. He was a volunteer at Major Health Partners for over 15 years.
Tom enjoyed gardening, playing golf, camping at Old Mill Run Park, fishing, and euchre. He
was an avid Indianapolis Colt's fan. When Tom retired he served on the Berwick Condo Association
as president and treasurer from 1998-2008.
A private family graveside service will be on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Forest Hill Cemetery
with Pastor Beth Crouch officiating. Military rites will be conducted by a local veterans group.
Memorial contributions may be given to First Christian Church, 118 West Broadway, in care
of the funeral home.
