Viola V. Connor, 90, former Shelbyville resident, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021
at Wellbrooke of Carmel.
Born June 2, 1931 in Shelby County, she was the daughter of George William Abel and Nealie
Augusta (Willis) Abel. She married Richard H. Connor on August 19, 1950 and he preceded her
on March 10, 2018.
Survivors include 2 children- Linda Wentworth (husband Jeff) of Vienna Illinois, Danny Connor
(wife Candae) of Carmel; a sister Jessie Williams of Shelbyville; 5 grandchildren- Travis, Mindy,
Aaron, Robert, Maggie; and 9 great grandchildren. Viola was greatly anticipating the birth of two
more great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her
parents, her spouse Richard, one sister, one brother, 5 half brothers and one half sister.
Mrs. Connor was a lifelong resident of this area, and graduated from Moral Township High School.
She was co-owner of Connor Jewelry Store for 41 years, retiring in 2015.
Viola enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and raising flowers. She loved people, and made a lot
of friends while working at the jewelry store.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Forest Hill Cemetery. No
visiting hours will be observed.
