Vivian Reeves Obituary


Vivian E. Reeves, 96, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022
at Ashford Place Health Campus.
Born December 17, 1925 in Arrowsmith Illinois, she was the daughter of Earl
DuBois and Emma (Steinlicht) DuBois and was raised by her mother and step
father Fred Blackman of Homer , Indiana.  She married Dale A. Reeves on November 17, 1946
in Rushville, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include 2 daughters- Cathy Young (husband George) of Gig Harbor, Washington,
and Connie Tuley of Washington Indiana; three grandchildren- Derek Young of Gig Harbor,
Leslie Kirk (partner Justin Gonyea ) of Tacoma Washington, and Justin McFall (wife Autumn) 
of Rockville Indiana, and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents
and her spouse.
She was a bookkeeper for various companies in Franklin and Shelbyville, and was one of the 
first women elected to office in Shelby County as Recorder, serving from 1968-1975.  She was
 a member of the West Street United Methodist Church, past president of BPW, and past
president of the SE District of Elected Recorders.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon on Friday January 7, 2022 at Glenn E. George & Son
Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor Robert Keck officiating.   Burial will be in Lewis
Creek Baptist Cemetery.  Friends may call on Friday morning from 11:00 am until the time of the 
service.
