William E. Schacht

March 25, 1937 ~ September 14, 2020 (age 83)


William E. Schacht, 83, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 at his residence.
Born March 25, 1937 in Shelby County, he was the son of William B. and Evelyn M. (Knarr) Schacht.
He married Joyce (Buchanan) Schacht on June 25, 1957 and she preceded him in death
 on December 10, 2009.
Survivors include children- Denise (husband William) Skinner of Shelbyville, William Dale Schacht of
Manilla, Timothy (wife Denell) Schacht of Shelbyville, David Schacht of Shelbyville; sister Katie Raisor
of Shelby County; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grand children. He was preceded in death by his wife,
parents, 1 son James Christopher Schacht and 1 brother Charles W. Schacht.
Mr. Schacht was a lifetime resident of this area and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. William
served in the US Army National Guard as Staff SGT and worked at J&L Tool as a machinist before retiring
in 2002.
William was an avid camper, he loved fishing, traveling, gardening, shopping for antiques, and spending
time with family, friends and his dogs. 
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437
Amos Rd, with Pastor Brandon Sutton officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation
will be observed from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday, September 18, 2020 at the funeral home.
 A graveside military service will be conducted by the local veterans organization.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in care of the funeral home.
