Wray Emerick Obituary

Wray D. Emerick, 78, passed away at his home on May 14, 2023.  He was born in Shelbyville, IN to C. Earl Emerick and Sarah A. (Isley) Emerick, who preceded him in death. 

Wray graduated from Southwestern High School in 1963.  He worked at Arvin Industries in Franklin and married Linda A. (Muck) Emerick on January 22, 1965. Linda preceded him in death in July of 2020. 

Wray helped start the family-owned corporation, Hillrow, Inc., in 1966.  Later, he worked for Ray Burbrink Farms putting in field drainage tile and farming. Wray also served the community very well.  He was elected President of the Board of Directors of the Marietta Volunteer Fire Department where he served one term.  He was elected as Hendricks Township Trustee in 1998 and served in that office for 24 years before stepping down in 2022. He was also a member of the St. George Cemetery Board.

Wray loved agriculture, watching tractor pulls, antique tractors, IU basketball games, and playing solitaire.

He is survived by his daughter, Dee Ann (Randy) Ellington of Edinburgh, grandson, Robert W. Goble of Shelbyville, and one sister, Carol Sue (Ken) McVey of  Martinsville; brother-in-law David (Linda) Muck of Edinburgh, sister-in-law Brenda (Don) Runyon of Morristown; and three nieces and one nephew.

Wray’s final resting place will be in St. George Cemetery. A private graveside service will take place at a later date.
